The 1st Saturdays Hernando Beach Front Porch Art Walk returned Saturday, Sept. 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. along Shoal Line Boulevard, and it comes back on Oct. 3. Local artists set up outside participating businesses, and visitors stroll the strip to look at the work, talk with the people who made it and buy pieces directly.

Two venues anchor the walk. The Silver Dolphin Restaurant and Country Store at 4036 Shoal Line Blvd. and Coldwell Banker Weaver Group Realty at 3436 Shoal Line Blvd. both host artists, so the event spreads out along the boulevard rather than sitting in a single lot. Paintings go up on display racks under the shade, and the whole thing runs at a walking pace.

The art walk started in January 2023 with a straightforward goal: give Hernando Beach artists a regular, low-barrier way to show and sell their work, and build the area's reputation as a place where art happens. It is presented by the Hernando County Fine Arts Council in collaboration with the Coastal Hernando Business Group and local artists, and it has held to the first Saturday of the month ever since.

Organizers lean into the setting. Hernando Beach keeps the laid-back, coastal Old Florida feel that drew a lot of people there in the first place, and the walk is built around that rather than against it. Visitors who come for the art often stay for the rest of the waterfront, where boat cruises, fishing charters, kayak rentals, restaurants and gift shops are within a short distance.
